Tilt wheel

Post by khold »

Hi again Phil

I have a new problem 8)

I bought a Logitech G5 and can now use all 9 button functions of x-mouse and everything works properly except the infamous tilt wheels left and right.
I have read around here and understand the problem with the tilt not working like the other buttons which is why i specifically bought a G5 since it had best success among your users.

I mainly use simulated keystroke for the tilt buttons in games and it works like a charm everywhere except for one game where it works sometimes other times it doesn't recognise the key only if I hold it down for a longer period but then it stutters and acts slow. The problem can disappear by me restarting the game or alt tabbing out and change the sim key to "press" from "during" and vice versa, Other times a reboot fixes it or nothing at all helps.
Sometimes i can play several matches in a row with no problems at all.
I have tried the debounce fixup but it works or not works no matter if it is enabled or not.

It's very random and it only happens in League of Legends game. The issue with this game I guess must be that its not it's not build like a normal game but uses AIR client. Suggestions?

win7x64 x-mouse version 2.1

ps:where is the debug log file stored?

Hi khold,

Firstly the debug log is the same as the normal log and you can view it from the context menu in the systray. Its stored in the same place as the setting file, which by default (assuming you didnt change during installation) its in %appdata%\Highresolution Enterprises\XMouseButtonControl (where appdata is your user application data folder).

Once you have to enable debug logging, the normal log file will get extra debug information.

Now on to the problem, obviously the debug log might be of use, but have you tried the "thread" methods of sending the simulated keys? they may help reduce stutter. Its also possible that this one game is a little sensitive to really fast key injections, so it might be worth adding a {WAITMS<x>} where <x> is a number of milliseconds. That may improve things, let me know :)

Thanks,
Phil

None of the "{WAITMS<x>}, thread" suggestions worked the same behaviours occurred.
But funny stuff now  when I enable the Debug logging it works perfectly ofc the performance of the game drops to somewhat laggy unplayable but the simkeys work. How the f**k?

when I enable the Debug logging it works perfectly ofc the performance of the game drops to somewhat laggy unplayable but the simkeys work. How the f**k?
That often happens, the debug logging slows it down enough that the game has no problem. this suggests even more that its the delays, the question is, where exactly is the deley needed.

What macros did you try with {WAITMS<x>}?
EDIT: I wonder if this is a problem just with the wheel tilt settings or on ANY other proper button?

Thanks,
Phil

What macros did you try with {WAITMS<x>}?
EDIT: I wonder if this is a problem just with the wheel tilt settings or on ANY other proper button?

Thanks,
Phil
I tried the {WAITMS<x>} on 50/100/500 with both threaded and during. Nothing changes, should I go higher?
I got mouse 4/5 and Middle assigned to q,w,e with during simulated key and they always work .

But what was the whole sim key macro.
eg. was {WAITMS50} before or after the key .

The WAITMS tag behaves differently depending on the send method also (on press, on release, during etc).

If other buttons are working, then it might be a problem with the tilt message which can repeat itself. The general settings has a "de-bounce" but I'm not 100% confident that its working as expected.

thanks

Did you try putting the wait AFTER the r?
If not, can you?

Oh crap... Dont put the < > in there.

Try this:

{WAITMS50} or {WAITMS100}

I guess the docs on WAIT and WAIT ms is not clear, the <> are not good! I must make the next version accept in this format too lol

MYGOD the {WAITMS50} worked flawless! I gotta put the key first and the wait after it didn't work the other way around and ofc not with the <> :hide:

Thank you man!

Will try v2.2 beta 2 anyways

V2.2 beta 2 should work as follows:
{WAITMS50}, {WAITMS:50}, {WAITMS<50>} should all give 50ms delay.

In during mode, the WAITMS tag should come after the key.
In Non-during "Pres on down"/"Press on up" etc. then the WAITMS should be before the key it applies to, so it knows when sending the key down->up how long to wait in between!

For the horizontal wheel, the during mode is pretty much useless, that is it will be essentially the same as the non-during modes because the wheel does not have the concept of being held down like a normal button..

Let me know how 2.2b2 works for you - I hope its good cos I need to release it very soon!

Thanks,
Phil

It works with all commands like {WAITMS<50>}r for the horizontal wheel. during or non-during works!

Haven't noticed anything else with my apps from 2.1 so I guess it's safe for release the 2.2!

Thanks again!
