XMBC and SteelSeries Xai tilt buttons

Post by ilikeit »

Hi I'm trying to make XMBC work with my SteelSeries Xai mouse's tilt buttons. I'm trying to assign the "minimize window" and "maximize window" function to the buttons. but when i press the button it maximize/minimize 2 windows (sometimes 3 or more  ) in rapid succession. I read that the tilt button auto-repeat itself at driver level and can't be changed with XMBC. I would like to know if this is the reason it's registering 2 or more times with each press? if so, is there no way to fix it? no workaround at all?
thanks in advance.

Hi, there are some settings in the general tab that attempt to allow you to "de-bounce" or filter the tilt wheel but it only works for in a few cases.

To confirm if your getting multiple messages, enable debug logging and have a look in the log after making a few tilt's.

As to if its possible to fix. As I always say, virtually anything is possible BUT that does not mean it will ever happen. I have spent a lot of time trying to fix issues with the tilt wheel in the past, and frankly because every mouse manufacture seems to do it differently, its just not the right place to change it. It either needs a change in Windows or the mouse driver. So try posting that question to MS/Lotgitech/Atik or whoever and see how far you get

The best I can do, is ignore repeat and that's what the setting in general settings attempts to do.
Let me know how you get on - it might be possible to tweak the de-bounce code a little more.

Thanks,
Phil
