mouse

Post by walther »

hi everybody!
very nice utility XMBC and very nice people here.
im a rookie around here and i need some help.
look whats all about:
i need to install second mouse who has to be active only on 2d drawing application(first mouse remains with the functions unchanged).
functions needed for second mouse(ordinary optical one):
scroll wheel - zoom in /out drawing field
mouse moving - drawing field moving 2 axis
left/right buttons - redo/undo changes in drawing field

is it possible to make these adjustments in XMBC?
thanks in advance for any help

Hi Walther,

Unfortunatly that is not something XMBC can do. You see, XMBC just remaps the windows messages sent by the mouse, and at that level, there is nothing in the message to distinguish what device has caused the message. To do what you want would probably require something at driver level, or certainly a lower level than XMBC operates.

Sorry about that.
Phil

Urm, I'd be surprised if you cant already do it with simulated keytstrokes. What action do you have to do to zoom in and out? I guess each app does things differently but if its like IE, with CTRL+scroll then try the following:

For mouse wheel up, select Simulated keystrokes, then in the input field, type
{CTRL}{MWUP}

For wheel down, use {CTRL}{MWDN}

If thats does not work, tell me the action required and I will try and give you a working keysequence.

Thanks,
Phil

Did you add a specific profile or set it on the default profile?
This is what I did (that worked in MS Paint, and in Firefox/IE)

Maybe XP does it differently but I dont think so.

bad news and good news:
other mouse, other computer ,still not workin with your keys combination.
good thing is that i found another keys combinations who work fine for my application .
now since i cant use and customise 2 mice individually i need a fast switch from default settings to customised settings(ex. start windows with mouse default setings and activate manually a key to use customised setttings for my specific app. )

yes im using layers but i got one new issue :
now i switch layer keeping pressed a key ,so left hand remains busy.
most conveniant was for me to using CAPSLOCK:
CAPSLOCK off state - XMBC layer 1
CAPSLOCK on state - XBBC layer 2
there is a way to do that ?
