Mouse freezes durring check for new version

Post by lee321987 »

I have NOD32 anti-virus/firewall. When a new program tries to connect to the internet I get a pop-up asking if I want to allow it.

When I get the pop-up for X-Mouse Button Control (XMBC) my mouse freezes (can't move pointer). I had to use the keyboard to open Taskmanager and kill XMBC, then I could use my mouse again.

As a workaround I ran XMBC, and QUICKLY disabled the check for new version.

Thanks for the feedback - and sorry again for the lockup :(

Hi lee321987,

I've had a play around with the code and I think I've fixed this lockup.
I have tested it with ZoneAlarm (which also had a similar lock up) but I would really appreciate it if you could check it works with your AV/Firewall?

If you would be happy to help me test it - please let me know and I will PM you a link to the beta.
NOTE: As of right now, I haven't made any other changes from 1.53 in the beta.

Thanks,
Phil

I'd be happy to test the beta. Please PM me.

I tried to PM you, but after I clicked "submit" it is now sitting in my "outgoing" box -- I don't see a button to send it (how do I do that?).

I believe PM's sit in your outbox until its read by the recipient - or at least until the recipient logs on. Its handy if you ever want to edit/retract the PM ;)
Anyway it worked and I have replied.

Thanks
Phil

Beta is working.
No pointer freeze, and I can also open XMBC window and click buttons (all while my firewall block/allow pop-up was still on screen).

Thank you :)

Great, thanks for the help.

I might push out 1.54 with this fix quickly seeing as it can cause lockups, but then again, right in the midst of some new changes, including window specific profiles and profile switch as the mouse is moved over windows - so maybe I'll hold off for that.

Thanks,
Phil
