Re: Is there anything like XMouse Button Control on linux?
To be honest, I would also love to know the answer to this question. Im surprised that there is not.
I would expect in Linux it would be easier to do properly compared to Windows - more driver level. But I don't know for sure - and then there are the different flavours, particularity in the desktop environment that will make it hard if not impossible to support generically.
I do know that the way XMBC does it in Windows wont work on Linux as it uses Windows specific low level mouse hooks for remapping and standard Windows API's for input simulation and window detection etc. It certainly won't be an easy port, but a complete rewrite (or multiple rewrites) for the different kernel/desktop environments. I have not yet moved to Linux on my general use machines (laptops/desktops) except a very few specific use cases. I'm too reliant of Windows specific tools and Microsoft apps, but with each passing Windows/Visual Studio update, I feel I'm getting forced closer! I just don't want to have to port XMBC to Linux myself - I simply don't have the time!

I have seen someone has tried that, it's called Y-Mouse Button Control (on github), but it was left unfinished.
I am also looking to switch to linux, but I have many customized stuff that I would need on linux and XMBC is one of that.
