Hi everybody!
XMBC 2.21 beta 51:
Win10Pro (x64) Build 19045.6575 (22H2):
logitech mx2 master:
lenovo thinkpad laptop, intel core9gen, 32g:
i just starded using XMBC…!:
language in windows is polish:
This is my first post here. I'm trying to determine whether i can solve my recent problems with crappy logitech sofyware(options+) by using XMBC.
For a few years now i've been succesfully using theese logitech mx2 mice (i have a few in several pc's) good combination of precision and durability made me happy user in general. However crappy updates of logitech made it unussable (key bindigs became impossible, app profiles began to dissapear etc.) I discovered that XMBC might be sollution to my troubles once and for all.
XMBC doesn't recognize two buttons of my mouse - one under the thumb - that in default is used to switch between windows and second one behind the main wheel that is normaly used two switch between mousewheel operation modes - free speen or rattle. On logitech soft i was able tho bind them tho something else. Is it possible here?
Kind Regards
Chris

Re: newbie asks about logitech mx2 master
No, unfortunately those buttons are only configurable in the Logitech software.
However, you can run both together, so it may still give you a way out (I have many Logitech mice, none that have a configurable wheel speed button - they are all mechanical for me!) but I don't use the Logitech software other that where required for the extra buttons, and sometimes to make the existing 5 buttons perform the "windows default" so XMBC can see/intercept them (the reason for only 5 buttons is covered in the F.A.Q.).

Ah! I came here looking exactly for this.
Are any buttons over #5 hard to intercept and would have to be added on a specific mouse basis?
It would have been sweet to be able to map the under-thumb button using XMBC as I've banished the logitech software from my computer, and it's cloud-account data collecting dystopian features along with it. Life would have been TOO perfect
@phil, thanks for creating this brilliant piece of software, this is what logitech should have done in the first place themselves instead of the bloated piece of whatever it is they created.

Re: newbie asks about logitech mx2 master
Some buttons are not hard, but impossible and mouse buttons "under the wheel" are hard-wired to change DPI (in the mouse itself and never report that button press to Windows at all). Other buttons sent messages that the mouse driver can interpret, but they are never routed though the Windows mouse hooks, which is how XMBC sees buttons (this is covered some more in the F.A.Qs so I wont repeat myself!).
