Feature Request: Support Environmental Variables in Log Path (particularly for Portable use)

Post by mousetrap »

XMBC Version: 2.20.5
Installed or Portable version: Portable
Windows Version: 11
How long have you used XMBC?: 1 day :D
What language and keyboard layout do you use in Windows?: English

Feature Request:
I am wanting to use XMBC Portable in my OneDrive folder so that I can easily use the same settings across multiple computers. This seems to be working well in my initial testing, but I noticed that the Log files do have issues syncing (understandably) because they are being written to on multiple machines. If support could be added for using the following Windows Environmental Variables I could place one or both of these into the path (as part of a folder name) and then each computer's XMBC logs would be separate to that computer.

Code: Select all

%COMPUTERNAME%

Code: Select all

%USERNAME%
Thank you for this excellent software! I am already appreciating certain features (eg, some interesting chording arrangements I'm playing with), and am hoping the de-bouncing setting will help with my aging mouse button issues.

Awesome!

Having gotten to use the software some more in the context of my OneDrive portable syncing setup I'll just add that this feature request is in the nice-to-have-but-not-totally-necessary category. I've discovered that OneDrive will mark conflicting files with the computer name appended on it's own.

Just wanted to let you know so you can prioritize your time accordingly. :)
