Did the problem occur after a Windows update/upgrade? (If so, from what version?): no
How long have you used XMBC?: since around May 2025
What language and keyboard layout do you use in Windows?: German
Clear description of the problem - try and include as much information as possible, including what button and mappings you are having problems with (if applicable).:
No real issue here. It's only, that when i leave the computer for a few minutes, i'd like to avoid any unnecessary fan noise, because Windows uses to fire up it's Defender scan for no real reason.
If XMBC can provide some kind of trick to move the mouse cursor back and forth for a tiny bit, please let me know, anyone. And if so, what would be the best option to engage/stop that wiggle mode?
Is there a way to build a "jiggle" function using XMBC?

There is already a ‘mouse juggler’ option in settings (maybe advanced can’t remember) that does this - not sure if it will interrupt defender though - but it does keep the machine from locking/suspending!

Re: Is there a way to build a "jiggle" function using XMBC?
Under -> Settings -> Advanced there seems nothing that hints me into that direction. But i'm sure, it will stop Defender from launching, as i tried another mouse juggler. However, it has a big unwieldy window that takes up way too much space and resists resizing between usages, so i'd rather use XMBC, if that's already included. Thank you.
edit, maybe it is the inactivity timer setting? But there is no description what it does.
edit two, yes, it looks like that's the one. I have set it now for one minute, but after that time i don't see any mouse movement, so i'm not sure if it's active or it's the right way to set it.

With a one Minute setting, the issue seems to be gone, although i can't say for sure. But i believe, that the Defender used to start almost every time i left the machine for maybe two minutes, so that it's likely that the wiggler does its job well, although i don't see any mouse movement. On the other hand, the movement may be very small, but still present.

Yes its the "disable inactivity timer", sorry I was out and not able to check yesterday...
It only moves the mouse by a single pixel (and I think back again) once within the timeframe, so seeing it will probably be tricky, but it definitely stops the computer from sleeping - I guess defender must use similar tactics for detecting idle to do its scans.

Thanks for confirming. Yes, one pixel on a 4K monitor isn't detectable for the naked eyes, but it works! I will leave that setting on.phil wrote: Sun Jul 27, 2025 11:17 am Yes its the "disable inactivity timer", sorry I was out and not able to check yesterday...
