XMBC Version: 2.20.5
Installed or Portable version: installed
Windows Version: Win 11 23H2
Mouse Information (brand/model): Logitech wired mouse M500
Relevant Computer Information (CPU, RAM etc): Intel Core i7-13700 13th Gen with 64 MB RAM
Did the problem occur after an upgrade of XMBC? (If so, from what version?): no
Did the problem occur after a Windows update/upgrade? (If so, from what version?): no
How long have you used XMBC?: 2 years or so
What language and keyboard layout do you use in Windows?: English - default
Clear description of the problem - try and include as much information as possible, including what button and mappings you are having problems with (if applicable).:
Mouse Button 4 and 5 on the mouse are defined as page up and page down. This works fine in Edge and Chrome when I first go to a web page. I don't have to click first on the page for them to work. In Firefox these do not work until I left click on the page first. The same is true of the page up and page down keys on the keyboard. This must be just how Firefox works.
What I am wondering is if there is a way using XMBC to simulate a left click+page up and left click+page down which would work. I tried creating special application rules for Firefox.exe for mouse button 5 using:
{Left Click}{PAGE DOWN} and {Activate}{PAGE DOWN}
I couldn't get these to work. Is there a way to accomplish what I want?
Thanks!

Re: question on using XMBC in Firefox
Should be possible using simulated keystrokes - just the tags would be
{lmb}{pgup} and {lmb}{pgdn}
You may need a small delay between the click and trhe pgup/dn, if so, try {lmb}[waitms:100}{pgup} (for example).

Phil

Re: question on using XMBC in Firefox
Thanks for your reply. This isn't working for me. I made these changes in XMBC and restarted Firefox. The mouse buttons still do nothing on any website in Firefox. Do I have something wrong with my settings?

Re: question on using XMBC in Firefox
Looks like my mistake... it should be {waitms:100} not [waitms:100}... So try that first.
I checked here and it seems to work for me with firefox with just {lmb}{pgup} / {lmb}{pgdn} ... But Im running the latest beta of XMBC, not v2.20.5 so I'd have to revert and check with that if needed.
Another thing you could try (because the LMB (left click) can inadvertanly click links on the page) is this:
{activate}{pgup} / {activate}{pgdn}
{activate} should activate the window under the cursor (again, tested on firefox here successfully).

Very weird. I don't know what is wrong, but neither {lmb}{pgup} nor {activate}{pgup} works for me.

Re: question on using XMBC in Firefox
I installed version 2.21 beta 48 and still no joy with those settings.
I tried using "scroll window up" and "scroll window down" and that doesn't work either.

Re: question on using XMBC in Firefox
Can you export and send your settings to me by private message (PM)... Then I can have a look with your exact settings and see if it works here, or if there is anything obviously wrong.
I only did a really quick test, using my default profile - so that could be related. Once I get your settings, I'll do a more thorough test!

Re: question on using XMBC in Firefox
Well this is really perplexing... After I imported your settings, it worked perfectly for me with those settings too...
That's all with the latest version of firefox (which I presume you are using).
So I'm completely at a loss as what to suggest now
I did find an unrelated bug in the latest beta but that was to do with loading the profile by double clicking it in explorer, it imported fine using the import button in the XMBC GUI.

Re: question on using XMBC in Firefox
Yes, that is very strange. Must be something in my system. I'll try uninstalling Firefox and reinstalling to see if that helps. I can also try using a clean profile in Firefox to see if that makes any difference. Thanks for testing it out on your end. If I figure it out I can let you know what was causing my problem.
Thanks,
Bill

Re: question on using XMBC in Firefox
I tried disabling all extensions, refreshing Firefox, unintalling and reinstalling Firefox, trying a new profile in Firefox, and disabling Logitech Setpoint. Nothing worked. In fact it made matters worse in that on some sites page down took me to the bottom instead of down one page. Oh well, my experiment with Firefox has ended and I'm going back to Microsoft Edge. Everything works there.
Thanks for your help in trying to fix my problem. I love XMBC and use it in several other programs without any problems.
