Although being launched at the start-up and visible in the system tray, X-Mouse Button Control seems to be in a deactivated mode, as the mouse commands don't work. When I exit the program and manually launch it, the commands function properly. I've tried both the portable and the regular installation, the behaviour of the program is the same.
What might the reason for it?

Re: X-mouse Button Control Doesn't Start Properly
Do you have scroll lock turned on (by default that disables XMBC)?
Is the Icon "normal" white or does it have a red X in it (that usually signifies disabled)?
Are there any errors in the log file?
