Dragging not working as expected.

Post by robojoe »

Hi,

I am trying to get this working for my Kensington trackball. I had previously used Mouseworks to configure. My setup is as follows:

WinXP
Left/Right Buttons: Configured to default settings
Middle X Button: Left Click Dragging
Right X Button: Right Click Dragging

My problem is the right dragging option do not seem to functioning correctly. I just cant get it to perform the desired action. After selecting the option and applying it just wont work. It does nothing on the desktop and acts a Back button when clicked on a web page. Occasionally, i have got a function to stick (the Run command, to ensure I have the correct button mapped), but now nothing.

Any ideas
Thanks

It sounds like your mouse button message is not being translated. The default behaviour for that button is "back" which generally only works in browsers.
But I have no idea why this might be the case.

Do other actions mapped to that button work? Does "left click drag" work when mapped to that button? You said "occasionally" do you mean sometimes these actions work but not all the time, or that other actions always work but not this right click drag one?

Its probably a bug in XMBC and I will take a look when I have some spare time (maybe tonight) but it could also be an issue with the mouse drivers or other software interfering with XMBC.

Thanks,
Phil

Hello again,

I've had a quick try here and I don't appear to have any problem with the right click-drag action. Are you sure you don't have left overs of the mouse ware software that may be affecting the functionality of XMBC?

Is there a particularly application your trying this with? so far I've only tested it in windows explorer.

Thanks,
Phil

Fixed, don't know why, but uninstalling and then re-installing fixed it.

Thanks a lot for the quick response.

First of all I'd like to say thank you, because ever since kensington stopped developing its mouseworks software I've been using xmbc. I got the same problem and I'm running win 7. It seems like xmbc is not intercepting the mouse clicks before the default action. It seems like it is happening in browsers and windows explorer. As a temporary solution I turned on the click lock within windows itself and although it works fine, it's far from ideal.

Much more likely a bug in XMBC than the way it works with windows 7.

I*t seems the latest version of XMBC may have broken the stickyness somewhat. I've not had a chance to investigate yet, other than a very quick check (and it appears something is wrong).

Thanks,
Phil

Erm, I had just installed version 1.52 and it appears that the bug is still there. I would like to know if it can be solved and if so. When do you think that it can be fix. Thanks for doing a great job.

Well so far, I've not been able to reproduce it - its working fine and as expected for me (hence no change in 1.52 - which to be fair, I had already completed before the issue was raised).

I will try and have another look tonight but I know last time, it was doing what I expected it to do on my machine.

Any more info/debug that might help?

Thanks,
Phil
