Sorry to dig up this over 10 year old thread.
First off I just want to say how much I love XMBC. I've been using it for well over a decade and it has become essential to how I use my pc. I even recommend it to my tech savvy friends. You could say I'm a XMBC evangelist
Before I discovered XMBC I used Logitech Setpoint and it was okeyish, but what made XMBC stand out was the ability to assign profiles to different parts of windows taskbar, this way I can have media and volume control in the clock area, brightness control in start button area and virtual desktop switching and task view in the middle.
Then button chording was introduced and it turned out to be another killer feature I didn't know I needed. I have many chords set up for different apps but my absolute favourite is the 'scroll boost' I wrote about in reply to
this thread. This I use system wide and at this point it is second nature to me.
For some time now I've been using the Logitech M720 mouse. It has a conveniently placed thumb button which I find great for cad work as I can both pan and orbit without any modifier keys. Sadly it's an extra button not supported by windows natively (hence also not by XMBC) so I'm forced to use Logitech Options. Fortunately there's no conflict with XMBC so that's ok. Now one great feature Logitech Options provides are gestures, which sadly XMBC doesn't have. It would be fantastic if XMBC could bring this feature to all mice so everyone can enjoy it, no matter the brand.
I know you've expressed interest in implementing this feature in the past, so there's no need convincing you of it's usefulness. Take this post more as an appreciation for all the hard work you've done on XMBC through the years and if you'll ever find time and motivation to add one more killer feature to XMBC, gestures have my vote
