Xmouse button control won't save the settings

Hey folks

I just reinstalled a clean version of windows 8.1 on my PC and I was using xmouse button control for a while on my pc, while running windows 8.
Now I wanted to set my scroll wheel up + down to the left mouse click, but every time I try to 'save' it, it doesn't do anything, the lines do get yellow when I scroll up/down but when I saved the new settings it does not left click when I scroll up/down. I had these settings like half a year before I reinstalled windows, it just seems it doesn't save, any ideas?

What version of XMBC?

EDIT: Try turning on debug logging in advanced settings, and then have a look in the log file after you have tried to save stuff. Are there any errors? Post a snippet of the log here so I can check.

And to make sure I did not mess anything up, this is what my settings look like. I literally seems it just won't save :/

EDIT: I just saw I am not authorized to post any links, if you think I could have done anything wrong, I could still send you a screenshot of how I am using XMouse, though I literally just set scrollwheel up/down to left click/left click. Nothing else, except for the apply button, of course

OK thats odd - nothing of any use in the log.
Can you have a look and see if the settings file exists in the profile folder? Did you let it install using the defaults? If so then the file should be under your user folder....

C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Roaming\Highresolution Enterprises\XMouseButtonControl

if the file is there, then you could try deleting it (that will reset everything).

You could also try upgrading to the latest beta - it has more logging and handling of errors if the settings file can not be saved.

The folder contains only 15ish language packs, a 'language_template.xmbclp_smaple' and a .txt file which is called XMouseButtonControl.log

I'll try to upgrade to the beta and post the log in here, thanks

Hang on though, is the log file not there? Where is it then? The settings and log file should be in the same folder!

Also, just a small thing, my mouse went crazy as soon as I installed the beta version. It was VERY laggy for 30 seconds or so. After that It worked fine, just as the program does. As far as opening it etc. but I've still got the same problem, scroll up/down is still scroll up/down

Well the file clearly isnt there. Can you check you have permission to write a file in that folder, for example create a text file in there? If that works, then I have no idea why it is not able to create/save the file. You could try creating a file called XMBCSettings.xml, leave it empty and see if XMBC can pick it up and use it.

Woah, I woke up today, went looking if I've got permission in that folder, which I assumed I had. Since I am the admin of the PC. So I opened the folder and there it was xD, the XMBCSettings file. Now it works perfectly.

I've got no idea why it is there now, I have rebooted by PC yesterday a numerous times so I wouldn't know why I works now, haha but thanks for everything Phil!! ♥

Very strange! But I'm glad its working now. Let me know if this happens again!
I cant see anything wrong with the code that could cause this - although I've added a bit more logging around the "save" function so at least me might find out why it can't write the file next time!
