Browser Previous Next Tab not working

Post by HyeVltg3 »

(think the title is a bit vague or odd.)

Win10 64-bit
Latest XMBC (Downloaded today)

What I Want:
MB4 and MB5 used to goto Previous/Next Tab on Chrome/Firefox as the function shortcut is CRTL+PGDN/PGUP

Cant seem to get this to work properly in XBMC using {CRTL}{PGDN} and {CRTL}{PGUP}
no matter what only the PGDN/PGUP is registered and it just scrolls the website a page down/up as just pressing PGDN/PGUP by itself would.
I can easily set this up on my Utech Venus and Logitech mice but not XBMC. checked to see if it was my new Sanwa MA-WTB43's problem, tested with Logitech M570 and same issue, just scrolls the webpage.
Am I using the modifier wrongly or is it somehow being blocked?

Re: Browser Previous Next Tab not working

Post by phil »

I just tried {CTRL}{PGUP} here and it works fine in firefox for me. Now that's on my 8.1 laptop but I dont see why it would not work in windows 10 (I'll try it on my desktop which has 10).

Whats "send method" are you using - method 1 is OK here.
It might be worth turning on debug logging, then trying it in the browser and then sending me a snippet of the debug log. Maybe that will give some clues!

Thanks,
Phil

Too much? all I did was Settings > Advanced > Enable Debugging > Ok > Apply. Click MB 4 & 5 on the page and watched it scroll up and down page(s). Just omitted the Windows and User folder location that shows before this part.

Re: Browser Previous Next Tab not working

OK I just tried it on my Win10 and it works there too - but there are some differences in my log:

Code: Select all

13-01-2016 00:57:48.0359> MouseHookData: Msg=0x020b (WM_XBUTTONDOWN), X=580, Y=34, Data=0x00010000, Flags=0x00000000, Time=15234359 (Diff=94ms), Info=0x0, Ptr=0x103CE
13-01-2016 00:57:48.0359> Translating XLeft Button Down Keystate 0x0: Action 28 [Simulated Keys '{CTRL}{PGUP}' (pressed)]

13-01-2016 00:57:48.0359> SendInput::SendKeyState: VKCode=0x21 Scancode=0x49 SendMode=0x8 Flags=0x2 Release=1:
13-01-2016 00:57:48.0359> Removing message 20B8 from mouse hook queue as we have overridden it.

13-01-2016 00:57:48.0375> Ignoring key injected by X-Mouse Button Control
vs yours

Code: Select all

    12-01-2016 19:41:19.0500> MouseHookData: Msg=0x020b (WM_XBUTTONDOWN), X=739, Y=912, Data=0x00020000, Flags=0x00000000, Time=160151500, Info=0x0, Ptr=0x910131D
    12-01-2016 19:41:19.0500> Translating XRight Button Down Keystate 0x0: Action 28 [Simulated Keys '{CRTL}{PGUP}' (pressed)]
    12-01-2016 19:41:19.0500> SendInput::SendKeyState: VKCode=0x21 Scancode=0x49 SendMode=0x8 Flags=0x0 Release=0:
    12-01-2016 19:41:19.0500> SendInput::SendKeyState: VKCode=0x21 Scancode=0x49 SendMode=0x8 Flags=0x0 Release=1:
    12-01-2016 19:41:19.0500> Removing message 20B8 from mouse hook queue as we have overridden it.
    12-01-2016 19:41:19.0515> Ignoring key injected by X-Mouse Button Control
    12-01-2016 19:41:19.0515> Ignoring key injected by X-Mouse Button Control
So I need to investigate why flags are 2 for me and zero for you, and why it only sees the two Ignoring key injected for you and 4 for me.
EDIT I was trying in firefox (well waterfox actually) as I dont have chrome installed - but I presume its the same problem for you in firefox too.

What language are you using?

Thanks
Phil

Found it - you have typed CRTL not CTRL :)
Try {CTRL}{PGUP}/{PGDN} and see if that works :)

I have no idea how to do it.
I just cant do it.
I dont know...

I dont know how to kick myself in the head.

I cannot believe this was all such a minor typo's fault. wow Phil I dont have the words to thank you with, but indeed this further proves why two heads are better than one.
Buttons work perfectly now. no wonder I could not find other people with this issue.

Thank you so very much, was really annoyed and frustrated, the Sanwa replacing my M570 doesnt have its own software, I have the M570's buttons set to Previous/Next tab because I find Back/Forward pointless for the browsing I do, usually reading and comparing lots of tabs at once, one button tab switching was essential.
So glad alls good now, again, thank you.

I'm glad its now working for you. I have modified the code a little bit already so it will log an error if it finds an invalid tag like {CRLT} in future versions - it should make spotting the error a bit easier (although you still have to look in the log of course :).

It would be good to do that check in the actual simkey window I guess -maybe thats something I can add too.

Thanks,
Phil

haha glad something came out of my hardships.
Thanks Phil, great program, gave a whole great reason to why I switched mouses, at the time assumed XBMC could be used, was really down when it wasnt working like I envisioned it, glad it was just a minor error.
Take care.
