Well, after a quick look, it seems that that's all the info I get - it must be related to some server side setting.caching - so there may not be anything I can do about it :(. I will keep looking - but from the application side, its just displayed what the Windows DownloadToFile API is telling it :(

Internet explorer does not show the filesize either when downloading so cant give a percentage...

Well - turns out it was because the server has on demand GZip compression enabled for all file types - so it cant send the maximum size as it does not know.

I have changed the setting on the server to exclude the update files from compression (they are compressed anyway) so it should now work - no change to XMBC - I like that :)

What version were you upgrading from?
There have been several problems with previous beta which stop them from responding properly, so Im not entirely surprised by this. It shouldn't happen again but it would be good to know, especially as it looks like this current version may be the one for release!

Yes, it makes sense, Anything after beta 11 had problems. I have fixed them (I think) but the upgrade from those b11+ could be problematic. Killing the process should sort it.

I'm getting ready to release 2.12 as I think I have all the problems sorted now - maybe tomorrow :)

Well I have just released v2.12 to the masses.
Thanks for all your help and support testing 2.12 prior to release - lets hope that it paid off and I don't have to make another point release in a few days - we shall see :)

Oh, and we never made it to Beta 16 - sorry r1cola :)

Well what do you know - as soon as its released someone finds another crash!.....
Typical - it didn't even last a day. I expect we will see a 2.12.1 after all :(

Oh well - life goes on as usual :).

LOL.... When you say icon thing, do you mean saving and restoring desktop icons?
You do know I have the icon only bit in a tiny app "ShellIconRestore" on my donloads page?
Granted its not quite as convenient and I haven't looked at it in about 10 years so maybe it needs updating - but it was the same as the code in XMBC.
