open explorer w. specific folder on key 4 and 5 doesn't work

Post by pope5 »

since some time key 4 and 5 of my mouse do not longer open the windows explorer with the specified folder. Instead nothing happens when i press these keys.

May be, that a preceeding update introduced this problem?

Even when I install the latest vresion 2.11.1 this problem persists.

thank you for any help.

What are you actual settings for button 4 ad 5. I'm guessing you have change them from default to "Open explorer at specified folder" but can you confirm that for me to save me guessing!

Thanks,
Phil

Also, what version of Windows? Its working as expected here on Windows 10.
Maybe you could turn on debug logging, and see if any error/message is logged when you press the button?

@Phil,

of course I have set Button 4 and 5 of my mouse to "Open explorer at specified folder" and both folders exist.

I run Win7 64-bit professional.

I tried to set the Debug Mode on. Is this the flag on the window "general Settings" Tab: extented?

When I set the option "activate Diagnose recording" nearly at the bottom of this window (adjacent to the button "open protocol file") and I close this window and open it again, the option is not longer set.
And the hint, that in the window, that I have to click ok and then apply, does not work, because
the appliy button is dimmed.

And whe I open the protocoll file, I do not see any errors.

I just set the Diag option again, klicked ok and got back to the settings window. The apply button was still dimmed. Then I changed the value of mouse-wheel right button to the same value it had and then the apply button could be klicked.

I klicked this button and then pressed mouse button 4 and 5.

Then I opened the protocol file and found the following information:

10-10-2015 17:44:30.0250> CMyMessageWnd::OnSetup - Clear hotkeys...
10-10-2015 17:44:30.0250> CMyMessageWnd::OnSetup - Opening setup dialog.
10-10-2015 17:44:30.0250> Sorting action list took 0ms
10-10-2015 17:44:30.0250> Loaded 0 application specific profiles (0 normal and 0 custom window).
10-10-2015 17:45:48.0875> Applying changes to X-Mouse Button Control settings...
10-10-2015 17:45:48.0890> Loaded 0 application specific profiles (0 normal and 0 custom window).

does this help?

Hi Pope5,

No, something is wrong. when debug logging is turned on, the log file will be much fuller than that - what you are seeing there is just the default basic logging. I dont understand why the check box is not working (not enabling the apply button) as I have never seen that before. I think you said your using 2.11.1? What language translation pack are you using (it shouldn't make any difference but right now I cant think why it wouldn't work!)

Hi Phil,

today i have tried it again, to set the debug mode and it seems, there is more data in the log file.

Do you see, why win explorer does not longer open with the desired folders?

Well, according to the log, all the button presses listed are set to default - there were none pressed that were set to "Open folder...." Which means either you didn't press the button set to open the folder when the debug was enabled, of something has gone wrong loading the profile.

Can you send me your XMBCSettings.xml file (it should be in the same folder a the log file). You can PM or email it to me if you dont want to post it here. Then I can at least see if there is a problem related to the settings file.

Thanks,
Phil
