foobar2000 and X-Mouse 1.34

Post by jimbo11883 »

Hello. I am running Vista x64 and I am having trouble with foobar2000 and X-Mouse 1.34. They seem to not play nice together. I am having a problem where my mouse buttons become \"disabled\" and the only way to fix this is to lock workstation and log back in.

I've noticed that you fixed this in a previous version...

Version 1.30:
* Fixed an issue with FooBar 2000 media player where the mouse buttons could get \"disabled\".

It seems like the issue has come back.

Hi,

I don't think I changed anything in version afer 1.30 to break my foobar fixes but I guess I will have to have a look at it before I make the next version.

I don't know when that will be though, because ive been planning it for several months now but things like work and a life have gotten in the way (sorry!)...

I'll let you know if and when I discover anything.

Thanks.
Phil

Hi again,

Can you give me a little more info? I've just tried this myself and it seems to be working fine - but I suspect I havn't configured foobar to run in a certain way?

What did you do in FooBar and what configuration is XMouse using (what are your button mappings?)

Also:
What version of Foobar? I've just downloaded the latest.
Does this happen all the time or is it random, occasionally happening or when you do something specific?

Thanks,
Phil

Hi phil,

My button mappings are as follows...
Left Button: Nothing (Don't Intercept)
Right Button: Nothing (Don't Intercept)
Middle Button: Nothing (Don't Intercept)
Left X Button: Middle Click
Right X Button: Nothing (Don't Intercept)

foobar2000 is set up as follows:
-Latest version
-Default UI
-Facets UI Plugin
-Foo_Playcount Plugin
-Foo_Masstag Plugin

This problem occurs randomly, and only when X-Mouse BC and foobar2000 are running at the same time.

Hi Jimbo,

I still haven't been able to figure out why this is not working. The problem with issues that happen occasionally is that it means its probably timing related and therefore possible I wont be able to recreate it on my machine.

Also, as I don't use foobar all the time (its not my default media player) I will be less likely to see any issue.. but I will keep trying.

Do you know if it still happens if the extra plugins are not running?

Thanks,
Phil

Hi phil...

I'll try it out without the extra plugins and let you know.

Thanks,
Jim

Here is how you can easily reproduce this. At least, I can, on my machine. Works all the time.
I use X-Mouse Button Control to assign double-click action to the side button of a mouse.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Single click on foobar's icon on the Desktop with a button which has double-click assigned to it (side button, in my case), to launch foobar.
2. Then close foobar. No matter how you do that, with keyboard or mouse - it doesn't matter - just close it.
3. Repeat step 1.

That's it. Mouse buttons are now disabled, and you have to press Ctrl+Alt+Del to re-enable them.

Hope this will help to fix this annoying problem.

Thanks!
