Re: XMBC 2.6 Beta
Great, I wonder if it should be more obvious, of if the context menu should toggle that option too - which would perhaps make sense?

Yes that would be a very good ideaphil wrote:Great, I wonder if it should be more obvious, of if the context menu should toggle that option too - which would perhaps make sense?
Re: XMBC 2.6 Beta
well application detection seems to work and features otherwise too, so I assume it's finephil wrote:Well then I clearly didn't make it as obvious as I thought hehe.
Nevermind how are you getting on without the service? things still working?
might be worthwhile to show the INFO warning about service removal in installation process
(for next major version non-beta)
Re: XMBC 2.6 Beta
Maybe, but most people dont even realise there is a service in the first place .
The change list will be present which will explain that, and I might just update the fAQ's and the main webpage too

Re: XMBC 2.6 Beta
i have question , it might be unrelated but better check ...
may new XMBC betas affect way how other programs intercept keystrokes ? (e.g. RadeonPro)
I use application profile with sticky 4th and 5th button for mouse button 4 and 5
happens only in that application (a game)
sudden activation of key behavior which seems like issue with keystrokes e.g. shift,insert,home,pageup/down,delete,end,left,right,up,down and some numpad keys
I'm totally unsure what/why is it (but only XMBC, RP and the game were recently updated)
so take it more just of uncertain note , until someone else confirms

Re: XMBC 2.6 Beta
Hi.
I wanted to report that sometimes, randomly it seems, XMBC locks itself on a layer, and the only way to fix it is to shut it down from Task manager or sometimes even reboot. I have keyboard assigned shortcuts for layer switching but these doesn't seem to work for me in latest betas. In XMBC 2.5 also happened but I usually could hit my shortcut and return to my default layer.
I'm running windows 8 x64, but it also happened when I worked with windows 7 x64 and a different system.
If I could help you debug this in any way with some logs or anything just tell me.
Thanks for your awesome software.

Re: XMBC 2.6 Beta
Difference in behaviour between 2.5 and 2.6b5
I'm running Windows 7 SP1 x64
I use the VB6 IDE in MDI mode, with all of its code windows displayed within the main MDI frame.
Where windows overlap XMBC 2.5 correctly scrolls the window under the mouse pointer when I do wheel up or down.
XMBC 2.6b5 incorrectly switches betweens the windows when I do wheel up or down in an area where the windows overlap. If I use the wheel in an area of a window that does not overlap with another then it correctly scrolls the window.
I've tried playing around with various specific window settings, but it still switches between windows rather than scrolling the one under the pointer.
I normally run XMBC in portable mode as an admin user via a scheduled task that runs at user logon.
I have tried 2.6b5 in non-portable mode as admin and non-admin directly from the application icon with the same results (switching between overlapping windows rather than scrolling)

Re: XMBC 2.6 Beta
OK Thanks, I will take a look at this, to be honest I was expecting more of this, because the way XMBC detects the window under the mouse had to be changed to fix some other issues.
I have VB6 so I will try and reproduce it when I get a spare moment
Thanks,
Phil

Re: XMBC 2.6 Beta
This one is weird, I have seen the same issue on a colleagues computer (Win 7 x64) at work, but I cant for the life of me get it to go wrong on my desktop here (Win 8 x64)
I will keep trying - maybe its only an issue on Win 7....

Re: XMBC 2.6 Beta
Figured out why its happening and I can now reproduce it here... but its odd... typical that MS programs dont adhere to windows standards hahaha. I guess it is rather old

As usual, you can get the beta HERE.
Changes since v2.6 Beta 5:
- #176 - Fixed some scrolling bugs in VB6 MDI Child windows introduced with the new scrolling/widnow detection code.
- #177 - Fixed a bug where the hook failed after resuming from sleep/hibernation (by reinstalling the hook when this happens).
Thanks,
Phil

Re: XMBC 2.6 Beta
Nothing Microsoft do with their APIs surprises me these days.
As you say VB6 is ancient, but alas I still have to maintain a large amount of legacy code. I've loaded up XMBC 2.6b6 and so far it's looking good and behaving as expected. Thanks for continuing to develop and improve XMBC, it's very much appreciated.

Re: XMBC 2.6 Beta
No problem, we also have do deal with quite a bit of legacy VB6 code too
Its a pain and we will get it converted to C# soon (but we have been saying that for 6 years lol).
Glad its working anyway - I hope it hasn't broken any other MDI windows - I cant find many these days but if you notice anything, let me know.

Re: XMBC 2.6 Beta
Hello again
Is there any chance you have come up with a way to remove XMBC icon from the start up folder but still allowing it to start up with your computer?

Re: XMBC 2.6 Beta
Urm, yes its already been mentioned, and I will probably put in the the HKLM\ run registry key. Of course for now you can DIY but it will almost certainly be done before I release 2.6!
