Sorry for the delay guys, I'm really struggling to fins time for XMBC these days.
Here is 2.6 Beta 2, with a few bug fixes and better windows 8 support.
A major change now for those with Vista or newer is the removal of the Windows Service (XMouse Launcher Service). This is because it was breaking several rules for Windows 8 apps, causing certain features not to work (like ALT-TAB). The program is now signed as a user accessibility tool (using a private certificate because I cant afford lots of money to buy an official one). The certificate is installed along with XMBC so it can be trusted. NOTE: For this to work, the program has to be installed to your program files folder, which is the default, but it does mean that these "secure" features wont be available in portable mode (Thank Microsoft for that
)
You can get the beta
HERE. Note that this link will always get you the latest beta version!
Changes since v2.6 Beta 1:
- 169 - Fixed settings file name corruption in German windows.
- 168 - Fixed scrolling on the index tab in CHM help file windows. This also allows you to set custom button profiles for Windows 8 Modern UI apps but some more work is needed there.
- 167 - Fixed a bug causing the 'sticky' click drag modifiers not to work on a layer that was active due to a modifier key.
- 165 - Fixed ALT+TAB in Windows 8 by signing the XMBC executable and removing the XMBC Launcher Service
FYI: I had pretty much given up on issue #159 introduced in Beta 1 (activate window under the cursor) because Windows keept blocking XMBC from doing that. However with the changes for #165, it might just be working...
Let me know how you get on, especially with the new launch procedures in Vista and later.
Thanks,
Phil
