Really basic help needed

Post by Larsen182 »

Hey, I just bought a new logitech mouse, but for some reason the setpoint software from logitech wont work on my cpu. Thus i tried X-mouse and it seems to work well:-) What i need however is to assign my button number 4 on the mouse to the SHIFT key and not a combination of keystrokes like the other ones I can choose. How can I do this? I tried typing {SHIFT} when choosing simulated keystroke, but it doesnt work. I can see that the drop down menu i choose is the right one as it lights up in yellow when i press the button. Any help would be appreciated.

Kind regards, Casper

Hi Casper, I've just replied to your PM but for the sake of anyone else reading the forums....

Yes this should be easy in XMBC.
In the dropdown for mouse 4, select "Simulated keystrokes"

That will pop up a window where you can input any key combination, and choose how they are delivered.

So you want {shift} in the text field and then in the dropdown, select the appropriate method, for example, if you want shift held down while you hold the button down, select "During".

There are a few other fields to play with on that screen but that should get you going.

Thanks,
Phil

EDIT fixed the bold around {shift} :)
