Evoluent Vertical mouse and KVM

Post by goldinsh »

Hi,

I have two Evoluent Vertical mouse that are both having problems with a KVM switch (Cybex SwitchView). The VM 2 was working just fine and now the wheel is no more working while the VM 3 Rev 2 is not working at all. The mouse is connected to the KVM using a USB to PS/2 adapter. I installed XMouse button control with the VM 2 connected but it failed to start and returned the following in the log:

14-04-2011 13:18:46> X-Mouse Button Control v2.0 (x86) Startup. Commandline '/notportable'
14-04-2011 13:18:46> Running on Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 (build 2600)
14-04-2011 13:18:46> Hooking the mouse...

I wish I can use the VM3 Rev 2 and hope you can help.

That log does not suggest it failed to start - that is perfectly normal.
And XMBC has absolutely nothing to do with the device - it will run quite happily with no mouse plugged in whatsoever - although there wouldn't be much point in that!

Are you sure its not running? Have you read the FAQ and / or manual? Are you expecting a window to open (because it does not by default - it runs as a tray app)?

Thanks,
Phil

Hi,

I could not ffind the application in the tray. I had to go to the Task Manager then find the process and kill. I run it after that and it showed up. So far I did not succeed to make my mice work with the KVM.

Thanks

Well if your mouse does not work without XMBC, it wont work with it.
XMBC is only a button remapping / tweaking application - its not a driver and its not in any way connected to Evoluent.

I'm surprised you didn't see it in the tray (it should have had an icon similar to the one on my profile over to the right of this text) - but never-mind, if you have managed to open it now.

Thanks,
Phil
