Hi,

Great software! I recently switched my mouse to a Logitech MX Anywhere 3S. For some reason, XMBC doesn't detect the two side buttons as the 4th and 5th buttons; nothing is highlighted when I press them. I've tried resetting the buttons to their default behaviour in Logitech Options+ (back and forward), but the issue persists. Any suggestions for how I could fix this?

Thanks,
Sam

Someone else is having issues with the Logitech MX S3 that I was chatting to on Discord). Its different from this issue, in that its to do with the second scroll wheel not being able to be seen by XMBC, but he didn't have problems with the buttons (as far as I know).

But in some cases, Logitech do not send the default button messages by default (if you get what I mean). So often the wa to fix it, is in the Logitech software, to set the 4th and 5th button, to BACk / FORWARD (NEXT) and see if that makes any difference. In some cases, you might need the Logitech software to be running as well (which is a bit of a pain, but if that's the case, there isn't much that can be done about that - thanks Logitech).

Ive got lots of Logitech mice (generally I like them) but they all behave slightly differently in this regard. My current main machine has a Logitech G604 which has issues with the tilt wheel not always working, particularly after the Logi+ options (or whatever it is called today) is installed. If it was never installed on the machine, the mouse seems to behave normally (but the extra 4 buttons that XMBC can not see are useless), so I wonder if simply installing the software does something to change the behaviour, whether its running or not?!

Changing the 4th and 5th buttons to BACK/FORWARD in the Logitech software didn't make a difference, but uninstalling the software altogether did! After uninstalling Logitech Options+, the 4th and 5th buttons are being recognized. There is still an issue where they're only being recognized when they're clicked, and are not being detected when they're held down, but that's something I can work around. Thanks for your help!

That is, in fact, exactly the case...I use an MX Anywhere 2 (which I pointedly bought over the 3S specifically for the tilt wheel) and to get XBMC to recognize the tilt wheel (IIRC, to get Windows 10 altogether to recognize it) I had to install at least Logitech SetPoint, which has the side-effect of installing a Logitech mouse driver that at least recognized the tilt wheel technology (as an M560, SetPoint informs me) but then (if I want XBMC to behave) not actually let the SetPoint software run after that. So there's definitely both a driver component and a control software component to the instillation.

I should note that I specifically install only SetPoint—and don't upgrade it to recognize my MX 2—because things wouldn't behave consistently if I proceeded to update/upgrade SetPoint to Logitech Options like it asks me to. I'm not sure if that intermediate state is at all helpful to you (after all, I didn't have extra gaming buttons to worry about), but it might be worth a shot for you to try if SetPoint recognizes anything even remotely resembling your G604...

Hope my experiences help somehow, let me know!
