LBM and RBM replacement in Dota2 does not work

Post by ARtuRioN »

XMBC Version: 2.20.5
Installed or Portable version: installed
Windows Version: 11
Did the problem occur after an upgrade of XMBC? (If so, from what version?): no

How long have you used XMBC?: a few years
What language and keyboard layout do you use in Windows?: russian

Good day to everyone.

I've been using XBMC for several years, it's a great program. Before turning on Dota 2, I switch between the left mouse button and the right one, because of the injury, it's more convenient for me. But now the game stops responding to mouse clicks altogether, although everything works in Windows.

I managed to fix it once by running XBMC as an administrator, but now even that doesn't help. What could be the problem? :(

I'm afraid to say, the game is probably blocking simulated (injected) input because off anti-cheat most likely.
How have you switched the buttons? If you just set left to right and visa versa, then XMBC is effectively blocking and re-injecting (simulating) the other button, which can be detected/ignored by the game. Many games let you configure the controls to your own preferences so this is less of an issue, but if DOTA2 does not then it could be problematic. You could maybe setup a profile for Dota2 in XMBC where the buttons are left as default [** No change (Don't intercept) **].

Or possibly (if the above is the case), then maybe it would be better to use the Windows built in swap left/right buttons.
This can be partially controlled by XMBC (on a per-profile basis) if needed, but the windows mouse control panel would be where to enable it globally (for some reason there is no way of setting it in XMBC globally - cant remember if that's a bug/error or for a valid reason).

Wow, it turns out Windows can do that. Thanks, I did it. It's good that mouse buttons 4 and 5 with the XMBC macro are working in the game. ;)
