XMouse Button Control 1.53 Released

Post by phil »

I've just put version 1.53 on the downloads page.

For a complete list of changes, check out the version history.

Many thanks to everyone who has helped me test this release.

Nice setup in your sig :)
I just got my new G700 today and it's by far the best mouse I've used (also own two MX1100s).

Always ready and willing to be a beta tester for XMBC, by the way

I got the G9 mouse for testing the horizontal scroll - I much prefer the feel of the MX518, I think they have a newer one like the 518 (maybe that is the G700) that has horz. scroll wheel support but I really cant be bothered spending the amount of money logitech ask for mice these days so I will stick to the G9!

As for the spec in the sig - its not bad - had the CPU at 3.8 no probs on stock cooler (which on a 2.6 cpu isn't bad at all really but to risky for all the time lol). Not that I really make the most of it these days!

Oh and I forgot to list the 2x60Gb Corsair SSD in RAID 0 - now that really makes a difference :)

Sorry, but I am back to version 1.51.

Problem : right click on trayed xmouse icon works only once in some configurations, viz
- Targus usb 3 button mouse (standard MS HID driver) on 32 bit XP
- same mouse on 64 bit Windows 7

Logitech 3 button usb mouse on 32 bit XP works OK.

Your software is great. I am a rather basic user to simulate doubleclick on middeclick and to replace wheelup/down with pageup/down in some older software, so I have no use for more complex features. Please preserve version 1.51 !!

Sorry I don't understand... Care to explain?

1.52 and 1.53 is a relatively minor update of 1.51 - what's the problem using 1.53 - is there a bug, difference in memory usage or what? And why 1.51 over say, 1.37 or 1.49? The right click functionality on the icon in the sys-tray has not been touched (as far as I can remember).

Thanks,
Phil

Please accept my apologies for what may be a false alert !

I reinstalled version 1.53 and could not reproduce the "problem".
As it only appeared with a tiny mouse, the probable cause could be my finger plus the new icon... nothing to do with your software.

Thank you for your answer. I nevertheless will stick to version 1.51, cause it already provides more than the useful features for my needs and I like the original icon.

First of all XMBC is a great little program and has usually got my mouse leaping through hoops to my requirements - thank you! :D

Now comes the but...

I recently updated from v1.48.1 to v1.53 and lost the ability to scroll with the wheel within MS Word 2007. Disabling XMBC got the scrolling back, as did uninstalling and reverting to XMBC v1.48.1

I happened to have kept the install file for v1.48.1, so I cannot home in any closer on the version that causes the problem.

I am running Win XP SP3 with a Dell 5 button mouse using the generic HID compliant driver. I am quite happy to remain with v1.48.1 but thought it may be useful to report my findings.

I tried searching for a similar problem report but without success - hopefully is is OK to post in this thread.

Cheers,
Trevor

This problem is caused by an outdated window profile for WORD.exe in the window scrolling tab of the advanced settings dialog, if you simply delete that setting or change it to use the default scroll method XMBC will not interfere with MSWORD scrolling.

P.S. Phil is already aware of this outdated setting and the issue will be rectified in future versions.

Thanks for supporting XMBC.

The latest XMBC betas are made available for testing within the following forum post:

  >>> viewtopic.php?f=6&t=569 <<<

There have been several performance upgrades.
If anyone is experiencing issues with a current/older version I would suggest trying the latest beta.

My mouse have 2 wheels. 2nd wheel have wrong (invert) direction scrolling (without installed drivers).
Can you make ability to change (invert) scrolling for each wheel?

I take it your mouse is the Logitech MX Revolution?

X-Mouse Button Control only remaps buttons that send standard Windows mouse messages.
Does the other wheel activate the button press (orange) highlight in XMBC's GUI?
If not, I recommend installing the manufacturer drivers to map the alternate wheel.
Unless your mouse' 2nd (side?) wheel sends any of the 9 standard button messages it can't be inverted by this program.

 Providing more information about the mouse & your Windows OS will help me assist you!  Not to mention the XMBC version and details on exactly what your seeing in the program.
