hi,
I have installed X button v2.20.5 and have Windows 10.
I want to assign a mouse button to change to next layer (layer 2) and stay there and when I press again that button to return to layer 1.
I´m not being able to do it, I´ve tried different methods:
1- Assign to a layer 1 button the "layer next" option
2 - Assign to the button the "layer 2" option
3- Assign a global hotkey i.e ctrl + G to "next layer" option
None of them work, the only way it works is by right clicking the app´s tray icon and selecting the corresponding layer.
What am I missing?

Re: How to switch layers with mouse button
I could make it work by unchecking the "disable in next layer commands" option in both layers.
Is this the right way?

Re: How to switch layers with mouse button
Now, is there a way in which I enable layer2 with a mouse button (without holding it down just by pressing it) and after pressing any other button (thus executing a layer2 action) it returns to layer1?

Re: How to switch layers with mouse button
I think that the layer options on the button dropdowns are considered "toggles" while the button is held down. To be honest, that's a bit useless these days, Its a bit of a hangover from before the concept of button chording was added, and was a crude way to try and chord buttons and never worked reliably.
I think the easiest options is to use simulated keystrokes, then the tags {LAYER:2} for the button on layer 1 and {LAYER:1} for the button on layer 2.
The layer tags in simkeys are discrete switches.
Again, you can combine the simkeys tags with other simkey action tags, so that kind'a answers your final question (so long as the action in question can be done with keystrokes (or other simkey action tags))
