VLC media player time jump

Post by GGALLIN1776 »

I'm trying to figure out how to set the side keys (no.'s 4&5) to control short time jumps back & forward in VLC Media Player (ver 3.0.16), both in audio & video.

Previously I was able to via x-mouse whilst retaining the normal functions in browsers & windows navigation, now I'm stuck.

Any clue how to remedy this?

Recently my hard drive crashed & had to switch over to a back-up laptop, making it impossible to find the settings which previously enabled this function.

Mouse is a Onn wireless/blutooth, os Win10 x64.

If you know the keyboard shortcuts for VNC (I'm not sure if they are global or only when the window is active - maybe configurable in VLC itself) then you can use simulated keystrokes in XMBC to send those keys.... If its only when VLC is active, you can setup a profile in XMBC for VLC and setup the button 4 and 5 in there. If they are global, you may need to do it on the default profile, but then that will apply globally to all windows (unless they have their own profile).

I think by default, short jumps left/right are shift+left and shift+right so simkeys would be {SHIFT}{LEFT} and {SHIFT}{RIGHT} probably with method one. You can check all the hotkeys VLC supports (and change them) in the VLC settings -> Hotkeys tab.

Something like this:
VLC.xmbcs
