Settings could use option for deactivating running of X-MBC at startup of operating system

Post by Lores »

It is a common option, to be able to choose whether a program should automatically start or not when Windows boots up

But with X-Mouse Button Control it is a much more needed feature, because some programs need the input send to them served with privileges while X-MBC is run without them. And so, some users first have to deactivate running of X-MBC at startup outside of it - and only then to deal with the core of their issue, one way or another

Some users or just you?

As I mentioned before on your last post, XMBC is a digitally signed keyboard accessibility tool and as such (assuming you have installed it in the correct (default) location under Program Files), it can send input to elevated processes without itself needing to be elevated.

XMBC can be disabled at start up using the "start up" tab in Windows task manager - not exactly rocket science. Because the startup entry (on installed systems) in in HKLM (to apply to all users) it is not possible to alter this setting from a non-elevated process.

I guess you can take that as a no to that request for now!
