button identification issues

Post by stevebirenbaum1 »

I recently purchased the Logitech M720 7 Button mouse. with my other mice, I got used to clicking the button the buttons and seeing the highlight of yellow in the programming tool. With this mouse the left click, right click, middle wheel all work fine and highlight yellow but the other buttons don't show up when I click them. how do I know which buttons they are associated with in the programming guide if they don't show up with the yellow highlight?

I'm afraid, if they don't highlight, that generally means that XMBC is not seeing them and can not remap them.
However, Logitech has its own software that can configure the mouse, and often, then default configuration is NOT standard. You should be able to change this with the Logitech software (and more often than not, the configuration is stored on the mouse and remembered so once configured, you can often remove the Logitech software - but not always).

As you probably already know, XMBC supports up to five buttons (see the F.A.Q in the forums if not) and you should, with a little configuration be able to make those buttons highlight in XMBC as you would expect with most other "dumb" mice.

I may be able to assist if need be (I tend to use Logitech as my preferred brand here so I have a few of their mice to play with).
GX9, MX70x, MX720 among others and all have been manipulable to work with XMBC)
