Switching focus via scroll wheel

Post by eviloverlord »

Hi,

This does seem a fine bit of software but I can't quite get it to do what I want and I wondered if you could point out where I'm going wrong.

I'm using Version 1.50 of X-Mouse with Windows XP.

I'm trying to switch the currently focused window (using the Windows <ALT><ESC> and <SHIFT><ALT><ESC> key combos) by holding the leftmost side button (Button 4) adn using the scroll wheel.

I have made Button 4 change to layer 2 and in layer 2 I have set Wheel Up to simulate {ALT}{ESCAPE} and Wheel Down to simulate {ALT}{SHIFT}{ESCAPE}. Both use the "In another thread as mouse button is pressed" option.

If I hold Button 4 and scroll up or down one notch all works as expected but scrolling by more than 1 notch doesn't work - it reverts to the standard Layer 1 scroll behaviour.

This means I have to release Button 4 and re-press it before every notch I want to scroll up/down.

Ideally I want to just hold Button 4 down and scroll up/down until the application I want is focused. Is this possible?

Many thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

Does it make any difference if you just use the default "As mouse button is pressed" and not in another thread? I suspect the threading may actually cause problems in this case with the speed of the mouse wheel.

I've just tried it in Win7 using your settings but with "As mouse button is pressed" and it seems to work fine no matter how many notches I spin...

Thanks,
Phil
