Version 2.7 Released

Post by phil »

After several weeks of testing (no prizes to the first who find the bugs I missed :?) I have released SNMPTP 2.7.

New in this version is the usage monitor and email notifications. This allows you to track your monthly data allowance and notify you by email when things get a little close to the limits! You can also choose to get daily, weekly, monthly etc. simple reports emailed to addresses of your choice.

After downloading, check out the read me and the example configuration file for information on the new configuration options.

Thanks,
Phil

Hi Phil,

I am having trouble downloading v2.7 of SMTPThroughput via "http://www.highrez.co.uk/snmpthroughput/".

The main download link "http://www.highrez.co.uk/downloads/snmptp27.zip" gives a 404 error.

The mirror site generates an error "You don't have permission to access /ccount/click.php on this server."

Any suggestions?

Regards, Neil

Hi, Yes I had problems with my web host the other day (and its not fixed yet). Obviosuly I have not got a local copy of the file in the right place for the primary link to work properly!

Doh!

Give it a try now (the primary link)...

Thanks,
Phil

Hi Phil,

Thats better! Both the main link and the mirror are now working.

Thank you for sorting that out so quickly.

Hi All,

Just a quick status update...

I have found several bugs in 2.7 and have been working on them in the background. I think its pretty stable now so will probably release version 2.8 soon. However, I really need to wait until the 1st of Jan to check the yearly billing stats work correctly for me (I found a problem with the December ones because it was the last month of the year and I want to check it all out when the year changes before I release the updates).

Thanks,
Phil

Hi Phil,

Do you have any more news on the status of v2.8 ?

The only problems that I noticed with v2.7 were during December, when the results were rather erratic. Normal service was resumed once the year had rolled over, and the results have appeared OK ever since.

There is no desparate need for v2.8 (for me at least ), but if it is available I would like to try it.

I released 2.8 ages ago (and forgot to post a notice here).. its been available for download for quite a few months now.

NOTE: I'm running 2.8.2 (beta) which has a few minor changes form 2.8, nothing serious if I recall correctly. That has been going strong for a while now so I guess I *should* build it as 2.9 and release that too.
