Why doesn't the software work with USB -> Parallel Adapters?

Post by aderman »

I'm attempting to test a digital step attenuator, but the PCs I'm using don't have parallel ports in them. After going through the readme and buying an inexpensive adapter, I've just seen that said USB to Parallel adapters don't work.

Can you explain to me why this is so?

Hi,

I’m afraid you’re on your own here.
I didn’t write the driver, only ported it to x64 and I don’t know all the reasons as I’m no driver expert.

I suspect its because USB devices are not addressed in the same way as traditional ports but I’m only going by faith on what the original developer (who seems to have dropped off the face of the planet  told me).

Sorry about that.
