XMBC Portable

Post by phil »

Hi All,

Many people have been asking for a portable distribution of XMBC and I have finally gotten round to making one. Its quite simplistic but there is a brief instruction read me file inside the archive, along with the usual user guide.

You can grab a copy here (mirror)

Let me know if you have any problems.

NOTE: In portable mode certain things will not work. For example if XMBC is not "elevated" then it will not interact with other elevate windows. Also some commands, like ALT+TAB will not work on Windows 8.

Thanks,
Phil

Thanks for producing this! The portable version was the first thing I looked for when arriving at the site, so it might be worth putting this on the main downloads page.

All my apps are portable where possible now, it saves so much time when reinstalling Windows. Simply drag a few shortcuts about, no sitting in front of installers for ages :)

Yes I really should get round to adding it to the main site - I will try and do it when I get home from Hong Kong!

I'm trying portable 2.6.2 on Chrome 33.0, but the {CTRL} key is not functioning. Both {SHIFT} and {TAB} are working fine. How can I make the CTRL worked?

The portable version is limited as stated in the FAQ. I don't know if this effects the CTRL key and I can't test it as I'm still on holiday. I suggest trying the installed version to see if that works.

Thanks,
Phil

That'll be because I called the file 'XMouseButtonControl 2.20.4 Portable.zip.zip' lol :)
Try again now - thanks for pointing that out!
