OK Im also confused now, but looking at MS's documentation, they call it "Windows messages" so Im thinking this Windows bit is the trademarked OS name... and messages is lower case...

So it probably should be....

Windows message tags: {POSTWM:<M>,<L>,<W>} Post a Windows message to the window under the cursor.
{SENDWM:<M>,<L>,<W>} Send a Windows message to the window under the cursor.
WHERE: <M> is the message, <L> is the LPARAM value and <W> is the WPARAM value.
NOTE: <M>, <L> & <W> can be specified in decimal (eg. 16) or hex (eg. 0x10).

Where "Windows" remains as "Windows" and the rest is translated...

Does that make sense? If so I will adjust the text for the next beta.

It does, that was my first thought exactly (great minds think alike? :lol: ). But on that site you put in template is "Window Messages", so after looking at that I've got confused :? . Do you have other documentation that states "Windows messages"?

Yes, well If a multi-million $$$ company like Microsoft can't get it right, what chance do I have :).

This one, the overview of Windows messages, seems to have it right...
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/librar ... s.85).aspx

Edit, but delve a little deeper and I got "Windows Messages" here https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/librar ... s_messages. sigh. I guess we just go with what fits best.

LOL. Well as a name of API it is a "Windows Message(s)" like in tag sentence. In normal sentences it should be "Windows message" I guess.

For your reference -
In the Japanese localized MSDN page, "Windows message" means a message of/for windows(=objects). In Google search (google.co.jp), somebodies seem to use "Windows message" as it is, others use translation (replacing with KANA character, pronunciation as [uindou-mése:dʒ]).
Also "post" and "send" are on the same ways (advanced programmers seem to tend not to like translation.)
"LPARAM" and "WPARAM" are used with never translating, everyway.

However Japanese grammar does not have plural form of noun (and prefix convention, rhyming), it may not be helpful... So my English is pretty rough too - maybe too bad.

Thanks for the input Suk, I guess really its going to be up to the person translating to make the final decision but I will probably end up changing the English slightly to make easier for Maxoku to translate as we have been discussing.

When translating into Russian, I did not encounter any major difficulties:
"Window Message tags" - literally window tags, but better in the quotes "Window Messages".
"Post \ Send" - I used the OS name for the first word and the program object for the second word. Although, hurried and made a mistake in the translation. When translating it is not necessary to mention the type of the transmitted tag, so I prefer to shorten: Post \ Send message to the window under the cursor.

That's a good idea. :P

OK, I'm going to propose making it this:

Code: Select all

"Windows Message tags:" => ""
"\t{POSTWM:<M>,<L>,<W>} Post a message to the window under the cursor." => ""
"\t\t\t{SENDWM:<M>,<L>,<W>} Send a message to the window under the cursor." => ""
"\t\t\tWHERE:\t<M> is the message, <L> is the LPARAM value and <W> is the WPARAM value." => ""
"\t\t\tNOTE:\t<M>, <L> & <W> can be specified in decimal (eg. 16) or hex (eg. 0x10)." => ""
I found a new bug in XMBC today - causing a bit of a resource hog when holding a key down (with layer modifiers enabled) causing the keys to stutter a bit - so I need to release a new beta (because its annoying me, and I can, I'm gong to do it tonight).

I will make the above change to the template - but its not final so if you disagree, I can change it again if need be :)

Japanese translation for XMBC 2.17 Beta10
Japanese2.xmbclp

Both text boxes in the Sim Keys panel still have the translation issue left - "Right/Left/Enter/Escape/etc". (Button Chording panel has been fixed.) If it may happen only on my PC, I will stop reporting this case from the next.

Thanks,
suke

@Phil and Maxoku,
Thank you for replying, I will cotinue to reporting.

About "Right/Left/Enter/Escape/etc" issue,
I noticed that the same problem also happens on the description-textbox in the "Choose Application" dialog. (Although all fields of the "Find Window" has already been fixed, we confirmed.)

And I tried to test in the "Layer name" field, typed "Left" and clicked "Aply" button, so XMBC crashed and gave me an Application Error, "The exeption unknown software exception (0xc00000fd) occurred in the application at location 0x7c9501f8. Click OK/Cancel to terminate/debug the program (in Japanese.)"

I closed the panel, and opened XMBCSettings.XML file, sought and erased "Left" strings of layer name. Then I tried to restart XMBC, but the same error again! Rebooting system (XP) / trying other versions of XMBC / checking in Registory, every effort was not rewarded. From now on I will try to restore the system drive from the old backup-image. It will take some time to reconfigure the detailed changes of the environment, so I will finish this report.
If Maxoku's PC is still XP too, you should not try the same test :!: . If I can not use XMBC like Iliya's XPs, I will not be able to participate in this forum -until one day I introduce a new Windows PC-.

Oh. that crash should have triggered the crash reporter - and sent me a report - but it didn't.... Sigh. That is 3 crashes recently that have not triggered the crash reporter (makes me wonder if the crash reporter was worth adding!).

If you crash is consistent, cant you send me your settings file to see if I can reproduce it here (I have XP test VMs available and while I dont officially support XP any more, crashes like this are bad and worth looking into because it more often than not is a general problem not XP specific!).
