Hey mate, i was thinking yesterday, to make it more simplier and deliver translation before new releases.
Could you setup an mailing list, so you could mail new additions you make to the program and mail them. So for example i could translate them send it back to you so it can be included into new release.

Since im not into beta testing, some strings are left behind, and catching up to date is a bit troublesome due to my limited time, but i check my mail every second day, so i could grab few new strings to translate and send it back and be up to date eaven with beta translations.

It would be a great idea for translators around the globe as well, if they willing to give their mail to you so you could send us this string for faster, more efficient workflow.


Let me know what you think of that idea.

My mail server has a list facility which you can subscribe and subscribe so yes I could do something like that - I will have to remember a) how to set it up and b) to send the emails

OK I have setup a simple mailing list - its pretty basic but should work.
To join the list send an email with the subject "subscribe" to xmbctranslation {at} highrez (.) co (.) uk

I dont know yet how well this will work - as for one, I will have to remember to send to it

NOTE: Anyone can send to this list - and if that becomes a problem, I will have to re-think it. However, my usual fairly strict spam filters should still apply.

I have now made a "quick" tool to help you edit your XMBC language files.
It uses the template file (supplied in the installation) to compare with your translation file, and it highlights missing translations.

I'm sure there will be plenty of feedback (but I don't want to spend too much time on it rather than XMBC itself ).

I have created a run/install from the web package available here:

Everyone is welcome to use whatever tool they like. I've just made my little program to make it easy to highlight the missing entries etc. It also automatically uses the latest English template from the installed version of XMBC which means less likelihood of missing/forgetting something on my part and everyone else's
