Windows 7 Shake

Post by cableghost »

I cannot get the Windows 7 Shake feature (Left Windows key + Home) to work.

I have tried the Simulated Keys {LWIN}{HOME} + 'As mouse button is pressed' or 'During...'; neither seems to work.

Any suggestions?

That is strange, because this is working for me...

I presume your using the latest (Version 2.0) etc.?

Thanks,

Ohh actually you might need to make sure you untick "Only send if profile's process is active".
Although on the default profile that *shouldn't* matter it seems to!

Thank you. Ver 2.0 is installed; I have continued to try all the various settings and none of the Simulated Keys options work for me. I have tried reinstalling XMouse, starting it as Admin, and tried all the related settings.

The functions work fine on their own, such as L Win key + Home works. Also, any of the pre-defined XMouse options work, just not the Simulated Keys options.

I have Logitech SetPoint installed, but the Applications Specific function is disabled.

I've tested the {LWIN}{HOME} SimKey and found that XMBC is using the NumPad's Home=7 key, instead of the standard HOME key.

If you turn off NumLock on your keyboard you'll find that the simkey works as expected.

Hi,

In general settings, what is the state of the checkbox "Ignore numlock state for Simulated Keystrokes" - and does it make a difference?

Also, If you can find the virtual keycode for the 'other' home key, you can specify it using {EXT:<keycode>} which might help.

Thanks,
Phil

Not certain what is going on, but I have tested a number of other Simkeys and other pre-defined settings, and they don't work.

Outside of Logitech SetPoint, I do not, knowingly, have any other software installed which would interfere, but obviously, something is.

I use Firefox as my browser, Outlook for communication. I do also use Dragon Nat Speaking, which I find has several applications always running, but doesn't seem to interfere with any other work.

Too bad...I wish I had time to spend troubleshoot this.

If you turn on debugging, it might give some idea of what it is trying to do, but your the only person reporting such problems and they don't appear to happen on any of my machines so its not easy for me to reproduce.

If you can shed any more light on it that might help point me in the right direction, I will be happy to take a look when I have some free time.

Thanks,
Phil

OK, so I cant see anything obviously wrong there.

I presume this is the key storke simulation:
12-05-2011 11:21:04.0056> Translating Left Button Down: Action 28 (Simulated Keys)
12-05-2011 11:21:04.0056> SendKeyState: VKCode=0x67 Scancode=0xffffffff Flags=0x8 Release=0:

So it would appear that XMBC is doing the right thing (left button layter 3?) so if thats not getting through, we will have to work out what VK 0x67 is and maybe why the scancode is 0xffffffff (-1). I will have to delve into the code, which, right now, is not possible - maybe I can get a chance over the weekend.

Thanks,
Phil

Hi,

I've been looking into this (sorry its taken a while)...

Does it make any difference if numlock is on or off?
I think it might be related to another bug that was reported here: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=609

If I'm right, then you might like to try 2.1 beta 2 (which Im about to upload). See the stick thread in the forum here: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=626

Thanks,
Phil
