"Set Profile Folder"-functionality?

Post by HomieButton »

XMBC Version: 2.19.2
Windows Version: Windows 10 Pro, Version 2004
Mouse Information (brand/model): Logitech G900
Relevant Computer Information (CPU, RAM etc): not relevant
Did the problem occur after an upgrade of XMBC? (If so, from what version?): I just upgraded from 2.18.6, but the problem occurred in that version too
Did the problem occur after a Windows update/upgrade? (If so, from what version?): No
How long have you used XMBC?: A few years
What language and keyboard layout do you use in Windows?: English language / German layout

Clear description of the problem - try and include as much information as possible, including what button and mappings you are having problems with (if applicable).:
I want to move my XMBC profile to a different save location (not in %appdata%, because reasons), but:
-> after saving my profile to a different folder
-> and loading that profile
->...the "Open XMBC Folder"-button in the 'About'-window still takes me to the previous folder location.
I really don't know which part of this is intended behaviour and which is not, but I would at least prefer some kind of "Set Profile Folder"-functionality or something like that. I looked through the Userguide, but couldn't find anything related to that.

Cheers

Best is to do this during installation - you can specify the location of the profile folder (this is completely independent from the load/save profiles which can exist anywhere). Right now there is no (easy) way of moving it post installation.

Simple way to do it:
1. Copy the profile folder to where you want it.
2. Uninstall XMBC
3. Reinstall XMBC and when it asks you where to put the profile/settings, choose the location you want (where you copied it to above)
