I'm using Volume2 with XMBC (I have for years). What exactly is the problem you are seeing??!
I have volume2 running all the time, but I don't make all that much use of it so I may have missed something. I first installed it because there was a conflict with XMBC (which was fixed years ago) but maybe something else has crept it - but you need to provide much more detail so I can test it here and see if there is a workaround/fix I can make.
