Cycle mouse cursor speed - Feature improvement

Post by spitfire_ch »

XMBC Version: 2.19.1
Windows Version: 10 64 bit
Mouse Information (brand/model): Logitech Trackman MX Ergo
Relevant Computer Information (CPU, RAM etc): Coe i7-8700, 16 GB RAM
Did the problem occur after an upgrade of XMBC? (If so, from what version?): no problem
Did the problem occur after a Windows update/upgrade? (If so, from what version?): no problem
How long have you used XMBC?: many years
What language and keyboard layout do you use in Windows?: CH-German

Clear description of the problem - try and include as much information as possible, including what button and mappings you are having problems with (if applicable).:

Not a problem, but a suggestion for feature improvement:
Cycle mouse cursor speed is great, but often, 4 different speeds are too many -> it takes time until you get the desired speed. Hence the following suggestions:
  • Option to define how many different speeds are needed (2-4)
  • Make this an option on the profile level, not a global option, together with the speeds
With only two speeds, this would be similar to "Slow Down Mouse Cursor (Sticky)" but with the advantage, that you can define the speed / amount of slowdown.

Thanks for considering this and best regards

I'll add it to the list. I think the simple solution is just to skip empty/identical values (requires minimal GUI change). But adding to the per profile tab isn't a bad idea either - that will be a bit more work - but nothing major!

The problem with adding new features like this one is someone always comes up with a better idea I didn't think of post event /s :)

Great, thanks! Using identically values was what I intuitively tried. That would work, too.
