Post by LambShift »

XMBC Version:
v2.19 (x64) Portable

Windows Version:
10 Professional Edition (build 18363), 64-bit

Mouse Information (brand/model):
Genius/NetScroll 120

Relevant Computer Information (CPU, RAM etc):
Quad i7-6700 3.4Ghz, 16Gb RAM, Intel HD Graphics 530 8Gb,

Did the problem occur after an upgrade of XMBC? (If so, from what version?): No

Did the problem occur after a Windows update/upgrade? (If so, from what version?): No

How long have you used XMBC?: Just started

What language and keyboard layout do you use in Windows?: Spanish (QWERTY)

Clear description of the problem - try and include as much information as possible, including what button and mappings you are having problems with (if applicable).:

Can't start the application. Also tried creating an XML file for the settings with an empty root, and setting Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\LowLevelHooksTimeout to 1000.

These are the logs with dates stripped:

> X-Mouse Button Control v2.19 (x64) Startup. Commandline ''
> Running in medium integrity mode (0x00002000)
> Unable to find the default settings file '...' (Error code 2: The system cannot find the file specified. )
> HookDLL: Unable to load XML settings
> Running on Microsoft Windows 10 Professional Edition (build 18363), 64-bit, Hook Timeout: 4096 ms
> Startup folder: 'C:\...\XMBCSettings.xml'
> Enabling portable mode.
> Creating/using settings file in 'C:\...\XMBCSettings.xml'
> As X-Mouse Button Control is not running from an OS protected location ...
> Warning: SendSPI(5, 0) called but the thread is not running!
> Using keyboard language 0x040A0409

Hummm, this is odd - never had such a report before...

The setting file should be created automatically if it is not there.... It is created along side the exe (in the same folder) so make sure that you have read/write permissions on that folder (the log is created in the same folder so I'd be surprised if you didn't have the correct access though).

Is anything else but the datetimes stripped from that log - it seems odd - for example "Startup folder: 'C:\...\XMBCSettings.xml'" the folder should not have the settings file name in it.... It maybe always does that and its a bug or it maybe a copy/paste error - but thats confusing me a bit.

Can you PM me a copy of the log file as it was originally?

Windows "don't supported" path C:\...\ (blocked create and use)
Rename directory to another name.

True guess, only very rarely will you find someone who uses such paths.
________
P.S. This can be used when you want to cunningly restrict access to files due to the features of the system.
cmd.exe >
cd c:
md ...\
move xxx ...\
explorer.exe >
Open C disk
C:\... - View as C:
C:\...\... - View as c:\...
C:\...\...\xxx - View message about unknown path
Custom write C:\...\xxx to address bar - view this diretory

Although in some cases XMBC can manage its settings, there is clearly a limitation
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

I suspect the ... is just something he typed to shorten the string. He cant possible be using a folder actually called "c:\...\"
This is why I asked for the full log - because copying pasting and shortening it just confuses people. No respose though so it cant be that much of a problem!
