Weird Adobe Illustrator problem

Post by Cooperone »

XMBC Version: 2.18.8
Windows Version: W10 Professional 1809
Mouse Information (brand/model): Razer Deathadder
Relevant Computer Information (CPU, RAM etc): Core i9 7980XE, 32GB Ram
Did the problem occur after an upgrade of XMBC? (If so, from what version?): NO
Did the problem occur after a Windows update/upgrade? (If so, from what version?): NO
How long have you used XMBC?: At least 10 years
What language and keyboard layout do you use in Windows?: Italian

Clear description of the problem - try and include as much information as possible, including what button and mappings you are having problems with (if applicable).:

Hello. The problem is quite new, it didn't happen after updating XMBC or Windows. It probably happened after Adobe Illustrator got an automatic update.

So here it is: when XMBC is active, I can no longer zoom in Illustrator using LALT+ Scroll Wheel. I have no custom configuration for Illustrator, just my standard one which doesn't even involve the wheel (just the two additional mouse buttons in the Deathadder). If I press LALT and scroll, the screen scrolls left and right and there's no zoom.

This happens on two PCs with mostly identical configurations. On both the problem goes instantly away as soon as I disable XMBC.

As far as I can tell right now, there are no problems with other software, Adobe or otherwise.

Hi,

The first hing to try, disable scroll window under cursor in XMBC and see f it fixes the problem.

If it does we can disable this on a per application basis by setting up a profile for illustrator.

Thanks
Phil

That was it. Hats off, you were faster than a speeding bullet!

I created the Illustrator profile and the option fixes the problem.

Thanks!

Perfect - thanks for letting me know.

The speedy reply (and this one) was a good excuse to rest and reply while out for a cycle!

I guess adobe change something it’s not uncommon for applications to do this and XMBC has a lot of built in exceptions but the profile option covers those that are not built in or change on us!

Regards
Phil

Unfortunately, disabling scroll window under mouse cursor is not fixing this for me, as I didn't even have it enabled.

The only thing that fixes the issue is shutting down XMBC completely, which I hate to do.

I'm on the latest XMBC and the latest Windows version. Latest Illustrator as well.

Is there any other fix for this? Thank you!

You've not really given me much to go on there - Is the problem you see also in In Adobe Illustrator?
Debug logging may be useful here - to see if XMBC is trying to redirect the scroll or not.
