Quick Launch bar erratically unresponsive

Post by lanoumet »

XMBC Version: v2.17
Windows Version: Windows pro 8.1
Mouse Information (brand/model): MODAO W30 USB Wired Vertical Mouse
Computer Information: 64 bits Pentium G3240 3.10GHz RAM4,00Gb
Did the problem occur after an upgrade of XMBC or Windows?: no
How long have you used XMBC?: Just installed
What language and keyboard layout do you use in Windows?: Portuguese PT

Clear description of the problem:
The Quick Launch bar become is erratically unresponsive.
It's getting worse along time: when I launch XMBC, I can use Quick Launch bar normally. After some use (2/3mn), It begins to be unresponsive (need to click twice on the tab to switch to the application). 5/10mn later it begins to be difficult to switch to the application. I can´t use Alt Tab neither to go to the tab I want. it´s toggles between windows but ignore the one i am clicking. I have to randomly click on tabs and use the previous/next window that I have configured on mouse buttons 4 and 5 to be able at some point to switch to the windows I want.
When the problem occurs, when I click on the tab, I can't see the chosen window but I can see that the tab has lost focus and that another tab is highlighted.

I use default profile
3 layers (1 activated with ctrl and other 1 with shift)
Left clicks in all layers are set unchange (do not intercept)
No Alt Tab configured

Sorry, what is this "quick launch bar" you refer to? Is it some other 3rd party software or part of Windows?
The only quick launch I know of the the bar you can add to the taskbar in windows 8 and earlier (its gone from 10). But that functionality does not match with other things you describe like tabs???

Sorry, I am not sure of the name of the thing. Maybe it's the toolbar or taskbar.
I mean the place on the bottom left corner of the screen, on the right side of windows button, where application icons appear when they are open.

Today, it's working normally, even if I did not reboot my PC.
I am sorry, I dont want to waste your time.
I will try to understand what causes the bug if it comes back.

OK yes it sounds like the taskbar... The confusion is that in earlier versions of windows, you could add a quick launch bar to the taskbar (but that was changed in Windows 8 to hide it and removed completely from in Windows 10)

Let me know if you figure out if you can make it go wrong again, I don't expect it to be a common XMBC problem or lots of people would have mentioned it, but there may be some compatibility issue with other things on your system and XMBC (they are really nasty and difficult to track down!).

Regards,
Phil
