2.15 -> 2.17 Change Movement to Scroll Issue

Post by crj11 »

XMBC Version: 2.17
Windows Version: 8.1
Mouse Information (brand/model): Trackman Marble
Computer Information: Asus Rog Laptop
Did the problem occur after an upgrade of XMBC or Windows?: Yes
How long have you used XMBC?: 6 Years
What language and keyboard layout do you use in Windows?: English

Clear description of the problem:

After upgrading from 2.15 to 2.17, Change Movement to Scroll behaves differently. I have button 4 set to Change Movement to Scroll. If I actually move the track ball after pressing button 4, everything works fine. However, if I do not move the ball, then on releasing button 4, it does a "previous page" command in the browser, which I believe is the default for button 4. In version 2.15, pressing and releasing button 4 with no ball movement did nothing.

Hi Crj11,

In 2.17, What is "Default action" set to on the change movement to scroll config window?
It should be set to disable (and then nothing should happen when pressing and releasing the button without moving the device/trackball).

I believe there is/was a bug in 2.17 that I have since fixed in 2.18 beta. I cant remember for sure, but I think it either didn't set the default action correctly (is it is not set to "disable") or it did not honor the setting (in which case you may need to wait for 2.18 (or try the beta).

EDIT: Looking at the change history for 2.18 beta, I see this:
556 - Issue with the default action being triggered after movement to scroll when it should not be. I am unable to reproduce this but will continue to try. May also be related somewhat to #554 above.

Now I think I have fixed it but I haven't had anyone confirm either way yet - so ideally, if its not as simple as changing the default action in 2.17, I would really appreciate if you could try 2.18 beta and see if that works for you.

Thanks,
Phil

Phil,

Changing the default action to Disable fixed the problem. Thanks! In case anyone reading this is wondering how to set the default action, the option is in the dialog that pops up when you click the tools icon that is associated with the key/action.

For future reference, if I wanted to try the beta version, where would I download it? I could not find a link.
