Rapid Mouse Wheel Movements

Post by Kryztof »

Hi everyone!

I'm new to the forums but have periodically used XMBC for various uses (primarily started out with the odd video game that required repetitive actions).

Anyways, I am having to use a software for work that requires you to go through a lot of information to look for inconsistencies, which is very repetitive in having to hit "Next" all of the time. Well I was looking into using XMBC and map the scroll up wheel to {ALT}n (keyboard shortcut to press next) and scroll wheel down to {ALT}p (keyboard shortcut to press previous. To my joy it worked right off the bat; however, if you scroll too fast or are rough with it (i.e. not a smooth movement), then it will occasionally put in the associated letter depending on what direction I am going. I was hoping that there might be a way to prevent this from happening (other than simply being more gentle with the mouse).

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

First off, you could try to see if the option "Ignore repeated vertical scroll" on the options tab. This may work but it might make it too slow - so give it a go and let me know. Secondly, there is/was a bug that I have fixed in 2.17 beta that may decrease the chances of this happening, but Its not completely clear why or how this is happening, my guess is that is too fast, the ALT is down when the simkey is sent, so it does not bother adding ALT again - but by the time the key is received that alt (from the previous simkey) has been released. If this is the case then the fix in 2.17 beta should make a positive difference.

The beta is available in the beta thread in this forum if you want to give it try!

Thanks,
Phil

Hi Phil:

You, sir, are a miracle worker!

At a quick glance/test it seems that the 2.17 beta has fixed that issue! It doesn't seem to be inputting either character regardless of how rough I am with the wheel.

Thank you for all of the hard work you've put into this software.

Great, thanks for trying it and confirming my theory!
If it does happen again, let me know!
