Block Scroll wheel when MMB is pressed

Post by miQlo »

I often mistakenly scroll when pressing the MMB. Is there a way to block the scroll wheel while the MMB is being pressed?

You might be able to do this with button chording, it seems to work here (with one a very quick test)....
Set the MMB to button chording
In the button chording window, change scroll up/down to"Disable"
Tun off (uncheck) "Block/delay original button action...."

OK/Apply - try it and see if it works.

Thanks Phil, seems to work perfectly. I need to experiment with chording more, haven't tried it before.

This was driving me nuts. Since I work a lot in CAD, 3D and Illustrator etcetera, where I use MMB to pan and scroll to zoom. Many times when zoomed in to a very detailed level, trying to make a delicate pan and then mistakenly touching the scroll wheel (zoom), throws the view off. Before, it was even worse if I pressed the tilt wheel which threw the view off even more, but updating XMBC fixed that. This will save me from a lot of frustration.

Stumbled upon this old thread again and thought I would provide the complete solution for future searchability.

These are the settings I use to pan with middle mouse button in Adobe Illustrator:
  • Layer #
  • Middle Button: Button Chording
    • Middle Button > Button Chording > Settings
    • Left, Right, Button 4, Button 5: ** No Change
    • Wheel Up, Wheel Down, Tilt Wheel Left, Tilt Wheel Right: Disable
    • Default: Simulated Keys
      • Default > Simulated Keys > Settings
      • Custom keys: {SPACE}{LMB}
      • How to send..: 3 During
      • Only send if profile's process is active: Checked
      • Block original mouse input: Checked
    • Block / Delay original button action..: Unchecked
