Logitech M560 is weird
XMBC confuses the tilt buttons with buttons 4 & 5 when I use Logitech M560. So I can't either use the tilt or the side buttons for what I exactly want them to use

Yes, welcome to logitech.
Thankfully you should be able to fix this in SetPoint, depending on your mouse. My G9 was like that until I changed the button behaviour in setpoint - that was several years ago and I cant remember exactly what I did, but I've not had any problems since (even on different machines) so I guess its some setting in the mouse hardware itself!
