XMBC 2.10 Beta

OK, I have begun the next beta phase with XMBC v2.10 Beta 1.

You can get the beta HERE. Note that this link will always get you the latest beta version!

Changes since v2.9.x:

• #267 - Enable some form of AutoUpdate to improve the update process. (NOTE: This won't come into effect until the next beta - this one you will have to download as before using the link above).
• #266 - Problem in Chrome
• #264 - Sticky repeat keys not released when changing layer!

There is a new language template with some new translations for the new update features.
Any problems, PM me a copy of the log file (or post a snippet in a code block here).

I have just published 2.10 Beta 2.

If you already have 2.10 Beta 1 then Please test the auto-update feature NOTE: I have found an issue in the auto update which means it will ask if you want to upgrade to v2.9.2. This is an error and has been fixed in 2.10 beta 2. So for now the auto-update is not working but it should still upgrade to 2.10 beta 2 even though the message is wrong. It will then be correct next time (from beta 2 to beta 3)

You can also right click the XMBC icon in the system tray and select "Check for updates".

Also note that the auto-update version check uses a DNS request so these can be cached for a bit out in the wild.

Changes since v2.10 Beta 1:

• #271 - Export button should be disabled for default profile
• #270 - When adjusting scroll pages/lines it locks out for a significant time.
• #269 - Scrolling pages issue with chrome.
• #268 - Problem with activate window when scrolling using SCROLL WINDOW or MOUSE WHEEL actions.
• #267 - Fixed some issues with the AutoUpdate function.
• #258 - Added 3 more layers (max of 8 now) and a setting to skip layers when moving between them with next/previous.

There is a new language template with some new translations for the new update features.

I had beta 2 installed and tried to do an autoupdate but it told me that it installed Beta 2 which I already had. I then downloaded and installed Beta 3 by hand. I'm certain it was still beta 2 as there were 8 layers after the autoupdate try and now there are 10.

NOTE: the auto update feature is still buggy. I hope I have fixed it in Beta 4 but that means until you install beta 4, it may not work quite right. Try it but if it does not work, wait until beta 5 before raising issues.

Beta 4 autoupdates successfully for me.

Yeh I think I figured it out - beta 2 and 3 bother had a bug where they tried to update to the release version of 2.9.2. I manually hacked the database so the release version of 2.9.2 update (which didnt exist anyway) now points at beta 4.

This one should then update to the beta link next time round so hopefully no more hacking and all will be good.... The cache thing I think was a red herring (or I hope so).

I have beta 4 installed and it noticed that there was an auto update available. It attempted to download but received "An error occurred while attempting to download the update package. Please visit the website to download the latest version or try again later" error.

It is still at beta 4. I will see if it works the next time my machine restarts.

OK Thanks - that error suggests the URL / link is wrong, but then I managed to update it OK...
I just noticed the time - what timezone are you in?
I was messing around with the server earlier - it maybe that it was just offline for a bit.

Right click the icon and select "Check for update" to re-try.
