I was referring to beta 13, but everything works now as expected. It could be that I've just reinstalled windows 8.1, installed XMBC and execute it without having a previous settings file, not sure what happened but I reverted to beta 5 and worked fine, copied my settings file back, updated to beta 13 and now it's working fine. Thanks !!!

That's exactly what happened to me - first install (or beta 12 in my case) and it went wired, but it worked fine the second time I ran it.

Its rather ominous especially as you (and another) had a similar problem, although looking at the changes I made between beta 10 and 12/13 I can see anything wrong :(

I've run through the code and tidied a few things up, but nothing clear as to what may have caused that jitter. Do you still have the log file from when it went wrong? Is there an entry saying "WARNING: Mouse hook has taken too long" or anything like that - there was in my log - would be interesting to know.

I'm going to push out another beta with a bit more logging just in case anyway

Thanks,
Phil

As promised, here is 2.8 Beta 14 - I hope this time I get a bit of a break :)

You can get the beta HERE. Note that this link will always get you the latest beta version!

Changes since v2.8 Beta 13:
  • Sanitised code and added some more logging to help debug this random lock up on install that one or two people have had (if it ever happens again!).
Let me know if it works for you!

Thanks,
Phil

Hi.
You can download the logfile here:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/9sqh7wkbce4jluy/XMouseButtonControl.log?dl=0

As you can see, I installed beta 12 first, then beta 13, went back and forth until I installed beta 5 that worked.
Hope it helps.
Thanks

Here is 2.8 Beta 17

You can get the beta HERE. Note that this link will always get you the latest beta version!

Changes since v2.8 Beta 16:
  • #225 - Fixed more issues with + and other shift modified keys in simulated keystrokes.
Let me know if it works for you!

Once again, I hope this will be the final beta (should I give up the optimism?). Perhaps there were a few too many bugs introduced in earlier beta versions - but there were quite a big change with the localisation stuff and threaded simulated keystrokes so I guess it was to be expected - and that is what beta versions are for right?!

Thanks,
Phil

OK, I'm happy with that for now. I think its time to end this beta and get 2.8 released.

EDIT: And so it is done

Thanks to everyone once again for helping me improve XMBC.
