auto-copying

Post by ronaldjeremy »

Today someone mentioned this utility in a discussion at lifehacker dot com.

basically, they said this utility has the ability to ro unix-style text copying, where all you have to do is highlight some text and that text automatically gets copied to the clipboard.

I have downloaded XMouse and cannot figure out how to get this functionality working?

If XMouse cannot currently do this, I would like to make it a feature request -- there is an extremely high demand for this functionality done right.

I think you have got my software confused with someone else's.
My software \"X-Mouse Button Control\" is not \"True X-Mouse Gizmo\" but I can see how the names could be confused..

It looks like your after the \"download\" link of this page
http://fy.chalmers.se/~appro/nt/TXMouse/

Then again, some of those ideas look kind'a neat and could be integrated into XMBC in the future!

Thanks,
Phil

Actually the reason I came here is because the gizmo is unreliable (always "turns its back" on me), and doesnt give you the option to disable the x middle mouse button and autofocus windows. All I am really looking for is simple copy-text-on-highlight.

If you can make that happen, that would rock! lifehackers would be all over it.

I'll see what I can do for the next release, but I'm rather busy right now with other things, so I cant promise anything quickly.

Thanks,
Phil

and this program is obsolete
Maybe that's why he doesn't respond to emails

Sometimes, life takes you in different directions and you don't have as much time as you would like to to work on free software!

You havent met the support requirements to deserve a response. From the TXMouse page:

"Usage is free, but only those who have sent a postcard(*) are entitled for support:-) Postcards with a view over your home-town or other local sight signed with encouraging words and your E-mail address are to be sent to

I'm with ronaldjeremy. I'm also looking for such an application that can automagically copy selected text, however which doesn't brake the ability to use middle-button under e.g. Firefox simultaneously.

(I use autocopy addon for Firefox which works great there; wondering if it is possible to use X-Mouse Button Control under any other Windows application same way).

Looking forward to hearing news from you, phil

these emots are nut!

anyway, thanks for helping. I knew both DrakKing and X-Mouse Gizmo, but they didn't work fine to me. However, I reconfigure my mouse settings (by defining the 4th/5th key to paste) and now this combo works pretty well.

thank you.

Nope, after a day of testing this topic comes back.

Gizmo/DrakKing would be great if they could:
- copy selected text to a \"second clipboard\" (which could be e.g. some string stored in the memory; it is important not to interrupt the windows clipboard, I believe);
- paste copied this way content in middle-button-click (however, you could specify under which application it works/doesn't work - e.g. I love the idea of opening new/closing existing tabs under Firefox),

What do you think?
Is it possible to add such a functionality to XMouse Button Control?
