Win8.1: wheel scroll not work with IE view on news app

I upgraded OS to 8.1 and having a problem.

If I enable 'Make scroll wheel scroll window under cursor', IE view on news app doesn't scroll with mouse wheel. But if I disabled that option, I can scroll it.

How to reproduce:
1. Enable 'Make scroll wheel scroll window under cursor' option.
2. Open 'News' app and go to 'My News'.
3. Click to open one of article.

Result:
Opened IE view doesn't scroll with mouse wheel.
But if I disabled that option, I can scroll it.

Hi, are you talking about IE11 desktop or modern UI (metro)?
I have been using 8.1 since it went onto MSDN but I confess I dont use IE much. I will however be able to check and see if I can reproduce the issue (when I get home). I'll let you know what I find.

Not a browser, but a store app. Enbeded IE view on 'News' app or 'Sports' app.

OK I will investigate - this could be a significant issue on 8.1 metro apps!

hi did anyone get an answer on this - I have just started having this issue where I cant scroll on the Metro Gui for sport & news with the mouse wheel or the bar, when I move the mouse to far right for the settings the metro gui disappears leaving the desktop. the only setting I have changed are Active X for flash player.

Well, I just tried with the sports metro app, and it scrolls the window horizontally when I use the wheel.
So it seems not to be a problem here (the same window / process info is detected).

Its also working in the bing news app too but I can't find "my news" so maybe I'm missing something!
If that the case, I'm going to need more info....

Oh and what version of XMBC are you guys using?

1. Click to launch 'Bing News' app on start screen.
2. Click right mouse button. -> App bar will appear.
3. Click 'Topics' on app bar.
4. Click 'Add a topic' and input 'Windows 8.1' or any words and click 'Ok'.

Now you can see some articles if your network is online.

5. Click one of articles.

The article will be opened on the embeded browser but I cannot scroll it with mouse wheel,
even if I click on it to activate it.
Only the workaround is disabling XMBC with pressing 'Scroll Lock' key.

As I wrote in the first post, this problem will happen only when 'Make scroll wheel scroll window under cursor' option is enabled.

I hope you can confirm this.

Yes I can confirm that - thanks. I will try and fix it when either I get home, or we get power back where I am right now

OK I have put something into v2.7 beta 4 that should help solve this.

You can now create profiles for individual METRO / Modern UI apps, and in the profile (scrolling and navigation tab) you can tick "Disable scroll window under cursor"

It should work after doing that for the relevant Modern UI apps.

The attached profile should work in 2.7 Beta 4 and later...

Thank you, I tried beta 4.

The name of News App seems different in Japanese version, it is 'modern ui - ニュース'.
So, I made a new profile and checked on "Disable scroll window under cursor" option.
It worked well as expected.
It was very easy because of new window selection interface. Great, thank you.

But unfortunately there is a small GUI problem.
The checkbox of "Disable scroll window under cursor" option doesn't show the status of current profile when I switch a profile to another one.
So, it is difficult to know that it is enabled or disabled.

OK Thanks for testing it - good news, and not surprising that the title is different in Japanese (its the Window title effectively so I would expect it to be localised!).

Thanks for letting me know about the GUI bug when changing profiles - that's what Beta is for I guess .
I will fix that before the next beta (maybe today maybe not).
