lateral vs vertical movement

Greetings. I run 2, 24 inch monitors side by side. My work requires that I have multiple documents open for editing and I do a lot of lateral movements across the 4 feet of horizontal monitor space.

Dragging my mouse to the right or left, the arrow moves a few inches. An equal forward/backward movement causes the arrow to move 3 times the distance (or so) up and down on the screen. I can find no way in Windows mouse controls, or x-Mouse software to change this.

I want greater sensitivity/control to the *lateral* movements, and equal or preferably *less* sensitivity on the vertical movements. Make sense? I am stuck with the reverse and am dragging the mouse to the right and left with repeated sweeping movements, to get it to the other side of my monitor array. It's a pain.

Anybody have any suggestions on how to get a little better control over my mouse? I'd consider buying a different type of mouse if I can't adjust this one. Thanks.

I understand you, but I dont know of any way of changing this behaviour. My mouse seems to be about the same left/right/up/down so its not something I've ever noticed (I also have 2x24" screens). Certainly Im not aware of a way to manipulate this in Windows (and thus XMBC) - maybe the mouse driver could do it - what mouse is it and does it come with any configuration software?

Thanks,
Phil
